Staff House

New bespoke dwelling in Bury.

The design owes much to its location and orientation, set at the foot of the South Downs within the grounds of an impressive Grade II Listed house. Limited to a single storey to minimize its impact on the Listed property, the sloping site allowed floor area to be cut into the landscape creating an inverted house with bedrooms below entry level.

The highly insulated, light weight super-structure housing living rooms is orientated towards the views, whilst the solid basement structure housing the bedrooms is aligned with the hillside. The large open plan living area is open to the rafters with feature trusses and a crow’s nest gallery.
