April Cottage

Extension to a Wells cottage in West Chiltington.

This sympathetic extension had to blend in with the existing arts and craft language of the building without the loss of any first floor windows in order to meet the client brief and planning requirements.

The detail of the existing was replicated with facing stone set between brick quoins, leaded light windows and mock timber frame cladding. An inverted lead lined dormer allowed the existing first floor window to remain undisturbed.

Cost effective clay roof tiles were used on the lower pitched roof to the extension where thatch would have been more vulnerable.
