Robert graduated from the University of Brighton in 1987 and from London South Bank University in 1992. He has spent his career working in private practice on a wide variety of project types and sizes in Europe and North America. In recent years Robert has delivered a number of major projects including housing developments, university faculty buildings, college campuses and light industrial estates, which he has balanced with a steady flow of private domestic commissions.
Robert Thornton has a long established relationship with a range of consultants from structural to services engineers, quantity surveyors and ecologists. He also works closely with local specialists, including kitchen designers, cabinet makers, blacksmiths, architectural metal workers and landscape architects, to provide a complete building design service.
Robert collaborates with architectural technicians, technologists and computer generated 3D image creators allowing a variety of resources to be supplied to both large and small projects. Every client is offered a tailored and personalized service with the same attention to detail whatever the project size.
